With India on the verge of being the most populous country. The only gizmo that can decide the country's fortune now is education. Which most of the Indian population lacks. education is the key to convert the population of 132.42 crore Indians from liability to assets.
Illiteracy is not the only problem but the real havocs are the causes of illiteracy that are extreme, Illiteracy not only leads to degradation of living standards of people but also leads to destruction of economy. Illiterate people often indulges in illicit and extremist activities including Violence, Rapes, Abductions, Blackmailing and what not.......... India is among the countries including highest crime rate. According to 2011 census, Literacy rate is 74.04%. moreover, a wide gender disparity in the literacy rate can be observed as literacy rate of men was 82.14% in comparison to 65.46 for women. The low literacy rate in turn directly affects family planning and population stabilization efforts.
In India people prefer their children to work with them so as to earn some extra income, Instead of sending them to schools. not only this children eventually become part and parcel in all the struggle.
Presently, India faces many hiccups that are an impediment to our desired literacy rate. Those living in rural areas are the biggest victims as rural schools operates in extremely poor conditions. While lack of teachers creates many obstacles for children in rural schools, Another setback is the lack of resource which becomes detrimental to the learning process. Lack of books and other reading materials. Lack of proper infrastructure, Basic amenities like toilets and electricity are other major problems.
Due to illiteracy people in India are so much frustrated and impatient that it can be seen even on red lights, yes it is true people in india don't even likes to wait for 30 seconds for signal to turn green , they are ready to face the consequences but cannot show even this ethical behavior . despite so much efforts by Indian government still population of india are not ready to take any steps for their self improvement .Literacy in india is a key to socio-economic development as it initiates awareness in people to work towards to work a better living. it is thus a starting point for modernisation, Urbanisation, Industrialisation growth and commerce and advanced communication . people in India needs to understand the gravity of situation , that education is the indispensable part of human life without which one cannot prosper and eventually leads to not only ones own destruction but also of whole country.
