"I HAVE A DREAM "

The African-American civil right movement was a decade long movement with the aim of securing legal rights on all the platforms for african american citizens which other americans already held .
That includes voting rights, rights to relief , non-discrimination on every platform etc. Before the american civil war almost four million blacks were enslaved in the south , only white men of property can vote and the naturalization act of 1790 limited U.S. citizenship to whites only .

Then came a ray of hope for all the african american citizens...... MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. was born on january 15th, 1929, in Atlanta , Georgia , the second child of Martin Luther King Sr. He came from middle class family and both his father and grandfather were baptist preacher . The family lived in Auburn avenue also known as " the bustling black wall street " home to some of the most prosperous black businesses . Despite this sophisticated background still king was not able to avoid the atrocities of white authorities.

'' I have a dream '' the words resonate even today after 50 years of his death . It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed we hold these truth to be self - evident , That all men are created equal .... I have a dream my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.....and when we allow freedom to ring, When we let it ring from every village and hamlet, From every state and city, We will be able to speed up that day when all god's children-black men, Jews, and Gentiles, Catholics and Protestants will be able to join hands and spring in the words of the freedom and serenity .
